It’s no surprise that once a new app becomes popular, Facebook is right there waiting to come up with a similar one or even just buying out the application itself (in the case of Instagram). “Poke” is the latest attempt by Facebook to stay ahead of the game. From my understanding this “new” concept is just a copycat of the recently popular Snapchat app. Being anavid Snapchat user, I find Facebook’s attempt at making a similar application humorous. It seems as though the multi-billion dollar company is never satisfied with what it has going on. Buying out Instagram and now causing much controversy by changing its privacy policies is one thing, but completely copying a recently popular app is another. In my opinion, Facebook should just stick with Facebook and leave other innovative applications alone.
